A breezeway is an architectural structure, similar to a hallway, that allows wind to pass between two parts of the structure. A breezeway is a beautiful, classic way to connect sections of a house and give it a personal, unique touch. Some common types of breezeways include:

• Offset – An offset breezeway connect the house with another structure, like a garage, and receives sunlight from all four sides. It provides shelter for both doors, and can also be used to incorporate a backyard deck.
• Funneled – Used to connect parts of a building that are angled towards each other, a funneled breezeway is wider at the back and can also be used to incorporate a deck if desired. The roof of a funneled breezeway is totally separate from the roofs of the existing structures.
• Contained – A contained breezeway shares a roof with the home and is closed in on two of its sides. Sun and weather exposure is limited, so this type of breezeway can act as an extension of your living space.
